22. The Secret of Kells (2009) - dir. Tomm Moore & Nora Twomey
This Irish animated tale of a monk in the seventh century discovering the Book of Kells. The animation is a healthy blend of Western 2-D animation and Eastern CGI. The actual folktale the film is based off of is not what draws you in, but you quickly become enveloped in the story of Brendan and Aisling. Interesting, and at a certain point downright scary, a must-see for loves of animated film (like myself) but probably not for a wider audience than that. A lost gem.
